Experience Makers INNOVATE Academy 2018

Delivered in collaboration with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London

Experience Makers aimed to challenge our guest’s thinking and approach with a programme that confronted existing misconceptions and perceptions around experience making. This is a fast moving and emerging area for the property industry.

The programme was developed and delivered by leading academics & practitioners from Central Saint Martins’ Spatial Practices Programme.

For more than 150 years Central Saint Martins has pioneered radical innovations in arts, design, fashion and performance. Its influence feeds into arts education, culture, industry and wider society. MA Narrative Environments, part of the Spatial Practices Programme at Central Saint Martins, has a focus on the stories at play between people and place. A team from the MA course led this unique one day event, exploring the role of experience design in placemaking.

INNOVATE 2018 Sessions

Sessions were highly interactive and explored key themes such as:

  • The role of experience design in creating great places
  • Diverse audiences – can we create experiences that are relevant to everyone
  • Cultural resilience – harnessing local talent and avoiding the cookie cutter approach
  • Future trends and lessons from outside the property industry

A focus throughout the day was how to harness the creative tension that often arises between developers, investors, property managers, building users and the wider community.
