Our Highlights of 2018

Our Highlights of 2018

As 2018 drew to a close we couldn’t help but take a moment to reflect on what had been a highly successful first year for Experience Makers.

Experience Makers launched at MIPIM in March 2018 with the aim to establish a community of people who put life and soul into property and to champion experience making as a priority in the property industry.

Over the following seven months we built our community with the support of our Experience Makers Founder Partners. We were delighted to finish the year with ten Partners, pioneering companies from across the property sector who recognised the need for Experience Makers within the industry and who work with us to set the direction we will take in 2019 and beyond. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our Partners for their support.

Read on to relive some of our highlights from 2018. If you are interested to hear more about becoming a member of Experience Makers contact us at hello@experiencemakers.com.

Experience Makers Goes Live

Following our initial launch at MIPIM, Experience Makers officially went live in May at immersive events space Aures London, situated in the atmospheric Leake Street Arches graffiti tunnel under Waterloo station. We were joined by over 100 of our colleagues and peers from businesses ranging from property owners, managers, professional firms and proptech companies to placemaking agencies and restaurateurs.

Our guests were treated to a demonstration of the experience of sound before Experience Makers took to the stage to announce our raison d’être: equipping people in the property industry with tools to give their customers and clients an extraordinary experience. A panel discussion followed, chaired by Clear Barrett, FT Money Editor at the Financial Times who spoke about the experience economy with representatives from Get Living, Harrison Fraser, Equiem, Sound Diplomacy and Produce UK.

Experience Makers Live Events

In July we hosted the first of our Experience Makers Live events where we visit an area and hear from the people responsible for bringing experiences to the communities and places within that area. Our attendees were given an insightful tour of St Pancras station by Wendy Spinks OBE, Commercial Director of HS1, toured the surrounding area whilst hearing about Urban Partners, the business partnership for King’s Cross, Euston and St Pancras and enjoyed food and cocktails at Global Generation’s Skip Garden.

Experience Makers Academy 2018

It was the best piece of structured learning I have attended in 20 years. It did my head in, it was brilliant.”

In October we held Experience Makers Innovate, the first of our annual academies delivered in collaboration with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The full-day event provided an innovative and challenging programme drawn from the college’s Spatial Practices Programme. Our guests heard from provocative keynote speakers, participated in specially designed practical tasks and engaged in sometimes heated debates.

We are excited to announce more about our future collaborations with Central Saint Martins in the New Year. In the meantime you can read our article about what you missed at Experience Makers Innovate 2018.
